"Ratzinger Höhe" Fruit and Culture Path

Experience fruit growing culture and cultural history between Chiemsee and Simssee on a walking path through Prien, Rimsing and Bad Endorf. The Ratzinger Höhe fruit and culture path has been established in an effort to recognise and preserve vital elements of local villages and landscapes.

Experience fruit growing culture and cultural history between Chiemsee and Simssee on a walking path through Prien, Rimsing and Bad Endorf. The Ratzinger Höhe fruit and culture path has been established in an effort to recognise and preserve vital elements of local villages and landscapes.


The former farmer’s orchard is:
 - Additional plant life in the villages
 - Additional income for the land owner
 - Habitat for animals and plants

A whole host of different fruits have been planted along the route:
 - For getting to know fruits better
 - For gathering scion
 - For comparing the areas in which plants can grow
 - For preserving fruit types

Cultural landmarks like churches, chapels and crosses bear witness to the beliefs and traditions of the local population.

Route and time required:
  Southern loop:    9 km approx. 2.5 hours
  Northern loop:    8 km approx. 2.5 hours
